On March 31, a press conference was held for the upcoming 2026 Beijing TOP International Table Tennis Open and the 1st Beijing Table Tennis Super League. Under international standards, these open-to-all events marks the beginning of Beijing's homegrown table tennis event series.

The events will run from April to October, consisting of three stages to be held across the city: community qualifiers, district leagues, and finals. Registration is open to all Beijing's residents. The participants will be divided into two main groups: the Open Group and the Youth Group. The Open Group is further divided into two age-based sub-groups (over 40 and under 40) while the Youth Group consists of three age-based sub-groups (U10, U12, and U14).

An innovative competition format has also been adopted, featuring a best-five-of-nine format with seven points per game, shortening match durations. For the finals, a bonus-point system will be introduced for matches between professional and amateur players to ensure greater fairness.

During the district league stage, there will be no single venue for the games. Instead, a home-and-away double round-robin format will be adopted among districts. This will help promote regional sports exchanges, drive consumption centered on the events, and contribute to the integration of the sports industry and public fitness initiatives.
