On January 8, a press conference for the launch of Capital Airlines' Beijing Daxing-Colombo international air route was held at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in China. During this conference, Capital Airlines announced that the new direct flight route will be launched on January 31 and operate twice a week (every Tuesday and Saturday).

During the press conference, representatives from Capital Airlines introduced more information on the route, detailing the flight schedules, service features, and some travel products associated with the route. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's tourism authority promoted local tourist resources, providing a comprehensive showcase of the island country's historical and cultural charm as well as attractions.

Sri Lanka currently grants visa-free entry to Chinese citizens. During his speech, Majintha Jayesinghe, Sri Lankan Ambassador to China, expressed his belief that this cooperation will offer greater convenience for travelers and inject new momentum into exchanges and collaboration between the two countries.

Liu Jun, President of Beijing Capital Airlines Co., Ltd., stated that the launch of this route is a significant step in the airline's efforts to improve its South Asia route network and build an "Air Silk Road" through its route network. Looking ahead, Capital Airlines will actively participate in the development of the Beijing Daxing International Airport as a national aviation hub of China. Building on the regular operations of routes from the Daxing Airport to destinations including Malé and Colombo, the airline will further expand its long-haul international network with more destinations in Europe. It also plans to extend its reach to North America.
