Beijing has recently announced a host of new destinations, ranging from trendy commercial venues and canal sightseeing routes to hidden-gem parks and bustling night markets, offering delights for late-summer and early-autumn outings. Let's take a look.

Yuanmingyuan Beiyuan Green Space Park

Fully completed, this park sits at the core of the "Three Hills and Five Gardens" area and is now open to the public free of charge.

The park covers approximately 10 hectares, stretching from the Zibishanfang (紫碧山房) area in the northwest corner of Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park in the west to Erhekai (二河开) in the east and bordering the North 5th Ring Road in the north. Here, you can savor the combination of greenery and history: as you stroll along green trails and wander on paths lined with pine trees, you can admire newly opened views of the northern part of Yuanmingyuan against the backdrop of the Western Hills, ancient walls, and a sea of blossoms.

Grand Canal Sightseeing Shuttle Route in Beijing Municipal Administrative Center

Beijing has a new night-tour option: the Grand Canal Sightseeing Bus Route in the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (BMC) has gone into its trial operation. The whole trip lasts around 40 minutes, and currently links some landmark sites of BMC, including Randeng Pagoda, Daguang Tower, Qianhexielu Bridge and the Canal Business District.

Departure Stop / Terminal: No. 2 Parking Lot of Moon River Town (intersection of Furong West Road and Gongyuan Street)

Ticketing Info: Tickets must be bought on-site at the ticket office beside the No. 2 Parking Lot of Moon River Town.

Fare: 50 yuan per person during the trial operation phase

Operation schedule: The 3-month trial phase will run until the end of November. The bus departs every hour between 17:00 and 21:00 each day.

Linheli Forest Camp

Covering about 10 hectares in Tongzhou District, Linheli Forest Camp used to be a vacant urban lot. Following careful planning, renovation and comprehensive upgrades, it has been transformed into an immersive urban leisure park offering specialty food, a bazaar with creative cultural products, parent-child entertainment, and live band performances.

Bazaar zone: 17:00 to 22:00, daily (Monday to Sunday)

Mutianyu Great Wall Coffee

Located at a key section near the north ticket check-in gate of the Mutianyu Great Wall Scenic Area, this coffee shop has launched limited-edition themed coffee cups and drinks tailored for hiking on the Great Wall. Besides signature coffee and tea beverages, it also serves Great-Wall-themed desserts.

Situated at the east entrance of Datianshuijing Hutong (大甜水井胡同), the gift shop comprises three sections: the souvenir section, the food section, and the tourist information section.
