Although the Beginning of Winter (one of the 24 solar terms) has just passed, many parks in Beijing still boast breathtaking autumn scenery. Let's make the most of the remaining autumn days and enjoy the fall colors together.

Summer Palace

Autumn in Beijing would not be complete without viewing the Garden of Harmonious Interests (谐趣园) and the Back Lake (后湖) of the Summer Palace. Here, the large-fruited elm, a tree species native to Beijing, flourishes. During autumn, the leaves turn vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and reddish-brown. These brilliant fall colors create a striking contrast with the ancient architecture.

Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park (Old Summer Palace)

Yuanmingyuan Park is home to many ornamental trees with colorful leaves, such as ginkgo, Chinese ash, maple, and smoke tree. At the junction of the three gardens in the Park, near the western entrance of the ruins of Xiyanglou (西洋楼, a Western-style building complex), lies a nearly 1,000-meter-long ginkgo boulevard. So many golden leaves dramatically enhance the beauty of autumn. The Lion Grove Garden (狮子林) in Yuanmingyuan is also a popular spot for autumn sightseeing.

Beijing Wenyuhe Park

The charming and iconic "Niao Wu" (茑屋), a wooden pavilion designed for birdwatching, stands out amidst the autumn foliage in the Beijing Wenyuhe Park. Ascend to the pavilion, and you will have a panoramic view of the park, with vibrant autumn colors blanketing the trees.

Nanhaizi Park

Nanhaizi Park in autumn is like a dazzling painting — a few ducks paddle leisurely across the lake, while a picturesque stone bridge stands in the background, with its reflection perfectly mirrored in the crystal clear waters.

Jiangfu Park

As late autumn sets in, the silver-red maple leaves in Jiangfu Park burst into view like clusters of seasonal fireworks. The prime viewing period spans from late October through mid-November.

Beijing Garden Expo Park

From November 1 to 16, during the "Leaf Dance Garden Expo - Rattan Weaving Adventures" Fall Foliage Festival (“叶舞园博・藤编奇遇”彩叶节), a stroll along the wetland boardwalk of the park offers views of five large and uniquely shaped straw art installations standing quietly among golden reeds. Each snap of the camera captures a cinematic autumn scene.

China Flower Expo Park

The China Flower Expo Park in Shunyi is home to a wide variety of maple trees. Under the warmth of the autumn sun, these trees have shed their youthful green and now "bloom" with their own unique charm.

Best Viewing Time: From 10:00 to 15:00 on sunny days, the autumn sun filters through the leaves, casting delicate patches of light. During these periods, the maple leaves appear even more translucent, adding a natural soft light filter to photos.
