Beijing's municipal parks will run various traditional garden tours for this year's upcoming Lantern Festival (February 12).

Summer Palace
Come to discover how ancient Chinese people celebrate this day through traditional folk lectures, riddles, lantern drawings, and exhibitions.

[Venue] Four Great Regions

This garden tour will have folk custom lectures and intangible cultural heritage-related activities where visitors can learn to write chuntiao (a type of Spring Festival couplets) and techniques for rubbing the character "Fu" (福, which means "good fortune").

Temple of Heaven Park
The event here will display colorful lanterns, one of Beijing's traditional characteristic activities. The representatives of this traditional Chinese cultural heritage item will interact with visitors, who will also have the opportunity to create lanterns themselves.

Fragrant Hills Park
Visitors will be guided to identify the cones and seeds of several plant species in the park, such as Chinese red pine (Pinus tabulaeformis) and Chinese thuja (Platycladus orientalis). There will also be a flower show where visitors can learn about the varieties and habits of the flowers that will be sold around Chinese New Year. Visitors will also have the chance to make small lanterns.

China National Botanical Garden (North Garden)
Various stores selling creative cultural products in the garden will hold lantern riddle games and lucky draws, where exquisite small gifts such as customized window decorations and discount vouchers for unique cultural venues will be distributed.

Taoranting Park
A live rendition of how to make yuanxiao (stuffed round balls made of glutinous rice flour for Lantern Festival) will be performed at Yili DIY Center.

Yuyuantan Park
Dragon dancers will march along the road from the Science Popularization Square (科普广场) to the west entrance, stopping twice for dance performances at the Science Popularization Square and the square behind the west entrance.

Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture
Visitors can spend the Lantern Festival in the historic elegance and charm of traditional intangible cultural heritage culture and garden experience at a fair dedicated to this type of cultural heritage.
