Here, you can take a leisurely stroll, play basketball, and just relax in the shade. The renovated Xiwai Square will serve as an urban public space, blending green areas, recreational spots, and commercial facilities and services. It will also serve as another landmark in Xicheng District.

Xiwai Square is located in the core area of the Fintech Demonstration Zone, bordered by Xizhimen Outer Street to the north, Xizhimen Outer South Road to the south, with municipal roads running along its east and west sides.

The renovation of Xiwai Square is centered around a design concept of "One Corridor, One Axis, Two Rings, Three Zones, and Eight Scenic Spots". The "One Corridor" runs from south to north, creating a visual pathway that connects the square with Beijing Exhibition Center. The "One Axis" runs from west to east, connecting the square with the main street of the Fintech Demonstration Zone. The "Two Rings" include an inner pedestrian ring for exercise, and an outer commuter ring that links various functional and scenic areas. The "Three Zones" consist of the western zone for office buildings and cultural activities, the eastern zone where people can exercise and relax, and the southern zone showcasing urban landscapes. The "Eight Scenic Spots" of the square include a promenade, a fountain, a reading space under the trees, a pathway with flowers, a "starlit" installation, a pavilion, a digital hub, and a basketball court.

Notably, the square is designed to be green, smart, and low-carbon. The eco-garden at the main square consists entirely of perennial plants native to Beijing, ensuring low maintenance and ecological sustainability. The plazas in front of the shopping mall entrances on the east and west sides are paved with eco-friendly gravel polymer concrete, minimizing carbon emissions.

In addition, the inner pedestrian ring features amenities such as marathon checkpoints and environmental monitoring stations, the leisure areas are equipped with smart furniture, including AI-powered garbage sorting robots, virtual global cycling machines, and interactive projection lights.
