As the gentle spring breeze brings warmth, different varieties of wintersweet are blooming in Beijing's municipal parks and the Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture, heralding the arrival of their peak season. 

The Summer Palace

The wintersweet in the Summer Palace is already in full bloom, its buttery-yellow petals fresh and delicate. In addition to the "Suxin" and "Gouya" wintersweet, you can also find the "Huti" wintersweet in full bloom around the Gengzhitu and the Waterside Village.

Best period: Late February to mid-March

China National Botanical Garden (North Garden)

More than 100 varieties of wintersweet trees are in full bloom with golden flowers, creating a splendid natural tapestry against the backdrop of the red walls and green tiles.

Period: The full-bloom period begins in late February, and the blooming period lasts until mid-March.

Yuyuantan Park

The wintersweet trees are along the fitness trail in the southern part of the park, inviting flower viewing, exercising, photo-taking, and leisure strolls. In the Peony Garden, the trees are arranged to create picturesque scenes, enhancing the overall visual appeal.

Period: Currently in the early stages of full bloom

Zhongshan Park

In the Huifang Garden, more than 20 wintersweet trees dot the windows with their waxy yellow flowers. Their fragrance mingles harmoniously with that of orchids on nearby tables, while the evergreen pine and bamboo complete this exquisite tableau.

Period: Currently in the early stages of bloom, with the best period from late February to early March.

Fragrant Hills Park

In the Plum Valley of Fragrant Hills Park, there are over 200 wintersweet trees. A wooden plank path allows visitors to view the wintersweet blossoms at a close distance. After the wintersweet flowering season, the plum blossoms in the valley will bloom.

Best period: Late February to mid-March

Beijing Zoo

Changchun Hall, a historic building in the Beijing Zoo, is surrounded by hills and rocks with wintersweets. Its winding paths create a picturesque scene of classical Chinese gardens.

Period: Currently in full bloom

The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture 

When the wintersweets bloom in the Banmu Garden, they add an early spring charm to the scenery. Outside No.3 Gate, wintersweets along the lakeside of the Taying Bieyuan Scenic Area create a delightful scene with waterfowl and the lake.

Best period: Early to mid-March
