Built during the Ming Dynasty, the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall (the "Mutianyu Great Wall" for short) is one of the finest sections of the Great Wall from that era. Stretching between the Gubeikou section in the east and the Juyongguan section in the west, it is home to iconic watchtowers such as Zhengguan Pass, Dajiaolou, Yingfeidaoyang, Jiankou, and Beijingjie. With its rich history and cultural value, the Mutianyu section is regarded as a highlight of the Ming Great Wall.

With a vegetation rate of more than 96 percent, the area offers plenty of nature with fresh air and stunning scenery. Distinctive features include double-sided battlements, uniquely designed passes, densely distributed watchtowers, unique structures, and the coexistence of inner and outer auxiliary walls. In 2011, it was rated as a national 5A-level tourist attraction of China. Its supporting facilities include enclosed cable cars, alpine slides, and the Mutianyu Great Wall Hotel.
