Tian'anmen Square, which is right in the heart of Beijing, lies along the East Chang'an Avenue in Dongcheng District. Stretching from Tian'anmen Gate in the north to Zhengyangmen Gate to the south, it is flanked by the National Museum of China to the east and the Great Hall of the People to the west. The square measures 880 meters in length and 500 meters in width, covering an area of 440,000 square meters. Capable of accommodating one million people for grand gatherings, it stands as the world's largest urban square.
