2025 'Study Beijing' Education Exhibition Successfully Concludes in Almaty, Kazakhstan

On October 21, 2025, the 2025 "Study Beijing" Education Exhibition was successfully held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, organized by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and hosted by the Beijing International Education Exchange Center in conjunction with the Almaty Technology College. The exhibition featured a delegation from Beijing, which comprised representatives from nine institutions, namely Beihang University, the Renmin University of China, the Central University of Finance and Economics, the China Agricultural University, the Beijing Jiaotong University, the Beijing Forestry University, the Beijing Foreign Studies University, the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), and the Beijing College of Finance and Commerce. Kazakh students and their parents were provided with a chance to gain a deeper understanding of Beijing's quality educational resources.

Beijing's delegation received significant attention and support from the local institutions and the Chinese Consulate General in Almaty during their visit. In his speech, Huang Xiaomin, Educational Counsellor of the Chinese Consulate General in Almaty, stated that this promotional event is highly aligned with Kazakhstan's 2025 Education Strategy and goals of digital transformation of education, serving as a crucial platform for deepening cooperation between the two countries in the field of technical and skilled personnel training. Talgat Mamyruly, Director of the International Kazakh-Chinese Language College in Almaty, and Erulan Karagulov, Director and Chairman of the Board of Almaty Technology College, commented that the introduction of Beijing's educational resources will contribute to Kazakhstan's strategic vision of becoming an "East-West Academic Exchange Hub".

Beijing's delegation presented a plaque to the International Kazakh-Chinese Language College in Almaty, Kazakhstan, designating it as a global student recruitment base. The Central University of Finance and Economics and the Beijing Forestry University awarded their scholarship quota certificates to the International Kazakh-Chinese Language College. The China Agricultural University presented a scholarship offer to the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University. The Beijing College of Finance and Commerce signed an agreement with the International Kazakh-Chinese Language College to designate the latter as a recruitment base for Kazakh students intending to study in China. Simultaneously, the Beijing College of Finance and Commerce entered into a sister university agreement with the Almaty College of Technology. This agreement marked a substantial step in the international educational cooperation between the two institutions, establishing a new bridge for educational and cultural exchanges between China and Kazakhstan and infusing new vitality into the development of international student education in China.

There was a huge buzz during the exhibition. Representatives from numerous local institutions, including the Almaty Multidisciplinary College, the Almaty College of Energy and Electronic Technologies, the Almaty College of Fashion and Service Industry, and the Almaty Automechanical College, among others, participated in the event for discussions and exchanges.

The participating institutions utilized thematic exhibition boards and project presentations to provide attendees with detailed explanations of their academic strengths, dual-degree programs, and the scholarship policies of "Study Beijing". The event was attended by nearly 5,000 participants from 138 universities, secondary schools, and other educational institutions, who actively engaged in exchanges. A "one-stop" consultation service for visa application and degree verification was also available on-site.

The Beijing College of Finance and Commerce signs an agreement with the International Kazakh-Chinese Language College to designate the latter as a recruitment base for Kazakh students intending to study in China.

During the visit of Beijing's delegation, the participating Chinese institutions highlighted the "Domestic Internship + Overseas Employment" model for pursuing popular majors such as cybersecurity and cross-border e-commerce, with students earning industry-recognized qualifications upon graduation. China and Kazakhstan also launched the "China-Kazakhstan Teacher Training Programme" through a mode combining policy interpretation and case sharing, with Beijing accepting Kazakh teachers for further education. Additionally, the two sides jointly launched the "Silk Road Craftsmen" International Skills Competition, focusing on areas such as graphic design, intelligent operation and maintenance, and artificial intelligence, to promote exchanges between Chinese and Kazakh youths.

An official of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission stated that the next step is to use Almaty as a hub to promote in-depth alignment of Beijing's educational resources with Central Asian industrial needs, contributing "Chinese educational wisdom" to talent development for the Belt and Road Initiative. Aydyn Sailaubayuly, Deputy Director of the Department of Education of Almaty City in Kazakhstan, commented: "This is like 'precise irrigation' of the China-Kazakhstan educational cooperation, allowing advanced concepts and technologies to truly take root and bear fruit."
