Approved by the Ministry of Education, Century College of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CCBUPT) was founded in 2005. The CCBUPT is a full-time regular institution of higher education co-sponsored by Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) and Beijing Xuehan Education Technology Co. based on the new mechanism and school-running model. It is the first independent college in Beijing approved by the Ministry of Education. The CCBUPT is situated in Kangzhuang Town, Yanqing District.
In May, 2003 when the 12th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the BUPT Party Committee was held, the decision to start the preparatory work for the establishment of an independent college was adopted. In June, 2005, the Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission evaluated and accepted the school-running conditions of the college. In August, 2005, the college was officially moved into its new campus site in Langfa, Daxing District, Beijing. On September 8 of the same year, the college welcomed the registration of first batch of its freshmen, which amounted to 1,374.
The school motto is: Be virtuous, inspirational, studious and practical.
