Approved by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality and filed by the Ministry of Education, Beijing College of Politics and Law (BCPL) is a full-time regular higher vocational college. It grew from Beijing Cadres School of Political Science and Law that was established in 1982. In 1985, it was renamed as Beijing Cadres School of Political Science and Law Management. In 1993 and 2000, Beijing Law Amateurish University and Beijing Judicial School was incorporated in the BCPL successively. In August, 2003, the Beijing Cadres School of Political Science and Law Management and the Third People's Police School merged and BCPL was therefore established. Currently, the BCPL is one of the demonstrated higher vocational colleges in Beijing.
The college has two campuses located in Daxing District and Yangzha respectively, covering an area of 357,000 square meters. The floor area of school buildings is 136,000 square meters.
The BCPL has five departments, including Social Legal Work, Security and Prevention, Applied Law, Economics and Trade Law, as well as Information Technology, as well as one department of Basic Studies and 21 majors, with more than 4,100 full-time students in its campuses.
