The Academy of Telecommunications Technology (Datang Telecom Technology & Industry Group) was founded in 1957, and was previously known as the Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications. As the first batch of unit approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee to confer master degree, it began to recruit and cultivate postgraduate students in 1978. In 2010, it was designated by the Ministry of Education and the Chinese Academy of Engineering as one of the first batch of pilot unit for the reform of high-caliber and innovative talents cultivation. At present, the graduate students are jointly cultivated by the Institute of Telecommunications Science and Technology, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and relevant institutions. The postgraduate department is established in the Academy of Telecommunications Technology (Datang Telecom Technology & Industry Group), and boasts two first-level disciplines: Electronic Science and Technology, and Information and Communication Engineering.
