Description: Beihai Park is one of the oldest and best-preserved ancient imperial gardens with the greatest cultural profundity in China. Its formation and evolution went through such dynasties as Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing (1115-1911), thus conveying Chinese history and culture of the past centuries. In terms of landscaping system, Its landscaping design follows the rules of classical Chinese gardens – "one lake and three hills". Beihai Park covers a total area of 68.2 hectares, of which 38.9 hectares are water surfaces. In 1961, it was listed among the first batch of major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level by the State Council.
