Description:

The Geological Museum of China is one of the first National First-Class Museums in China, and the first public natural science museum built by the Chinese people. In July 1916, during the Exhibition of Achievements of Students held upon the graduation of the first 18 geological students independently cultivated in China, the Geology and Minerals Exhibition Hall was inaugurated as the predecessor of the Geological Museum of China. Through a century of ups and downs, the museum has been a witness of the inception of modern science in China, the inheritor of China's geological cause, the initiator of China's geoscience popularization, and a legend in the history of China's science, geoscience and museums.

Since its opening in 1916, the museum has been passing down knowledge and achievements for generations, with many outstanding talented minds and achievements, and has been evolving as an independent scientific institution, recording and witnessing the twists and turns of the development of the cause of China's geoscience. It has accumulated rich natural wealth and cultural assets in the process of synchronous development with China's modern science. With its systematic collection, fruitful achievements and exquisite display, the museum has been a leading institution among its counterparts in Asia and enjoys a high reputation in the world.
