Description:The Former Residence of Soong Ching Ling, Honorary President of the People’s Republic of China, is located on the north bank of the Houhai Lake in Shichahai, Beijing. It was originally the garden attached to the palace of Zaifeng, the Imperial Prince Chun, father of Puyi, the last Emperor of the Qing Dynasty. Soong Ching Ling moved here in 1963, and lived and worked until her passing away on May 29, 1981. In October of the same year, the site was named of  "Former Residence of Soong Ching Ling, Honorary President of the People’s Republic of China" by the Secretariat of the Central Committee of CPC. On 29 May 1982, it was formally inaugurated and opened to the public.
