Description: Yanqi Lake is located at the foot of the Yanshan Mountains, next to the Great Wall. Every spring and autumn, large flocks of wild geese come to rest in the lake, hence the name. In 1985, approved by the Beijing Municipal Government, Yanqi Lake was listed as a key tourism development project during the "Seventh Five-Year Plan" period, and it officially opened to the public in 1987. In 2002, Yanqi Lake was rated as a national AAAA-level tourist scenic area. In 2014, the APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting was held here, where President Xi Jinping quoted Bai Juyi's poem, "The wind stirs the white waves into thousands of pieces, and the geese dot the blue sky in a line," praising the beautiful scenery of Yanqi Lake. Yanqi Lake consists of two lake areas, east and west, with a wide water surface, a storage capacity of 38 million cubic meters, a water surface area of 230 hectares, and a maximum depth of 25 meters. The flat terrain and wide water area of Yanqi Lake make it very suitable for various water and land entertainment activities, making it a famous tourist scenic area and water park in the suburbs of Beijing.
