Since the beginning of the summer travel rush, the average daily passenger throughput for international and regional flights at Beijing Capital International Airport has reached 44,000, an increase by 63 percent over the same period last year. For the summer-autumn flight season, the airport has gradually resumed several international routes, with eight new destinations added, including Havana, Riyadh, Sao Paulo, and Seattle.
Beijing Capital International Airport has taken steps to simplify entry and exit procedures for foreign passengers by installing multilingual signage at terminals and broadcasting announcements in both English and Mandarin Chinese. The airport also offers hotline services in English, French, German, Japanese, and Korean, among other languages. POS machines in 250 key merchants at the airport accept payments with overseas bank cards. Finally, banks and shops in the terminals are well-stocked with ample small-denomination banknotes and coins for merchants to withdraw cash and provide change.
As one German visitor put it: "It's so awesome that in China you only need a single App for all your payments and purchases."
A Danish visitor remarked: "Online payment is extremely convenient. All you need is to scan a barcode or QR code to pay. The system works well."
Beijing Daxing International Airport expects to handle 56,000 inbound and outbound flights and serve over 8.8 million passengers during this year's summer rush. To make the trips more convenient for foreign passengers, the airport has an independent area for 144-hour visa-free transit applications, with the staff on-site to assist passengers in completing relevant procedures. On July 15, the airport officially launched the electronic boarding pass (EBP) services for international and regional flights, with British Airways and Hong Kong Airlines being the first to provide the services, further enhancing the travel experiences for international and regional passengers.
POS machines are spotted at the airport bus station, subway station, intercity railway station, and parking facilities of Beijing Daxing International Airport, allowing foreign passengers to make payments with overseas bank cards.
