This year's Beijing Tulip Cultural Festival displays over 100 species of tulips at four major sites, namely the Beijing International Flower Port, World Flower Garden, Zhongshan Park, and Beijing Expo Park. The event began on April 3 and will last through mid-May.
The purple "Guotai" tulip, the themed flower of this year's event, is considered the best of all tulips and symbolizes great love, nobility, auspiciousness and fortune, with the implication that the country flourishes and people live in peace. Special exhibition zones will be set at all four sites to display these themed tulips.
From April 30 to May 15, Beijing will hold the first art competition of tulip arranging at the World Flower Garden. Citizens can observe all entries during the May Day holiday.
The Beijing Expo Park has created landscapes, based on Yanqing Wanhua Square, Tiantian Mountain, etc, for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.
