In midsummer, beyond lotus blooms, parks across Beijing are welcoming a new round of flower-viewing excitement. More than 20 flower borders across the Temple of Heaven Park, the Summer Palace, Yuyuantan Park and other scenic sites have seen flowers in full bloom, and the colorful blossoms look like a spilled artist's palette.

At the Summer Palace, the flower borders blend beautifully with the classical elegance of the imperial garden. Three flower borders have been laid out across the park this year.

Flower borders at other parks across Beijing also have their own distinctive appeal.

This spring, a bunny-and-kitten-themed installation at Yuyuantan Park unexpectedly gained widespread online attention. Nicknamed by netizens "a site photographed by one hundred million visitors", it quickly became one of the season's most popular spots.

At Beijing Zoo, the flower border named "Bond of All Living Things" (万生之缘) has been created along the north bank of the Zhitong River, featuring a mix of 172 species of perennial plants valued for their blossoms, foliage and ornamental fruits.

The Temple of Heaven Park has set flower borders in the northeastern section of the outer altar and on lawns inside its west gate.

Flowers in some of these flower borders will remain in bloom through October, and most will continue flowering into November. Some varieties even bloom year-round.
