Located in the core area of the "Three Hills and Five Gardens" area, Yuanmingyuan Beiyuan Green Space Park has been completed and is now open to the public.

Covering approximately 10 hectares, the park stretches eastward from the Zibishanfang (紫碧山房) area at the northwest corner of Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park to Erhekai (二河开), with the North 5th Ring Road along its northern edge. Every plant, path and slope reflects careful planning that balances heritage site protection, cultural continuity and public recreation.

To preserve the historic atmosphere in the surroundings, the park's footpath, benches and wayfinding signs feature simple, understated designs. Nestled among trees and flower fields, these facilities minimize the visual impact of modern infrastructure, allowing the site's historic character to blend naturally with the relaxed atmosphere of an urban green space.

More than 1,100 trees have been planted across the park, along with 90,000 square meters of ground-cover vegetation, creating distinctive scenery in each season.

A new 1.7-kilometer footpath links different parts of the park. A dedicated pedestrian staircase has been added to Wanquanhe (万泉河) Bridge, while an existing overpass has been upgraded with accessible ramps. Two parking areas for non-motorized vehicles have also been added. Residents north of North 5th Ring Road can now reach the north gate via the overpass with a 650-meter walk.

Visitor Tips

The park is open for free and no ticket is required. Mosquitoes are common in spring and summer, so visitors are advised to bring insect repellent.
