Starting in July 2023, an environmental improvement project covering from Lingjing Hutong to Ping'an Street was initiated. The area between Lingjing Hutong and Xisi Intersection, as the first part of the project, has been fully renovated and opened to the public at the beginning of 2024.

In accordance with the local historical and contemporary imprints, the project has eliminated unauthorized constructions, removed architectural facade attachments, and conserved the elements deemed to be valuable to showcase the authentic colors of the buildings and their urban surroundings.

As part of the renovation, the relevant parties involved dug into, restored and revitalized the traditional cultural elements. Also, by taking the local cultural travel routes in account, the surroundings of historical and cultural buildings such as Yidali Hutong, Wansong Laoren Pagoda, and Gangwashi Church have been fully improved.

In Lingjing Green Garden, a recently completed urban park, the recreational facilities for children and the activity areas for the elderly have been set up, to make this open urban park suitable for all ages and create a high-quality public space for citizens.

The environmental improvement project has also transformed and renewed municipal facilities. Specifically, damaged roads have been flattened while measures have been taken to regulate non-motorized vehicle parking, to foster a street order marked by tidiness and orderly management.
