"Beijing Design Awards" is a permanent award set up and sponsored by Beijing Design Week Organizing Committee, including "Classic Design Award" and “Design of the Year". Among them, the selection of "Classic Design Award" is held once a year, and "Design of the Year" is released in the form of a yearbook every two years. The "Beijing Design Award" is a comprehensive award, featured by a wide range of selection fields, a long time span, and a strong professional nature compared with current domestic and international design awards.

The "Classic Design Award" is a prize for projects and works that have been used in China and those that have been used abroad by Chinese designers since 1949. Its aim is to highlight the important role of creative design in the fields of society, economy and people's livelihood, advocating the concept of "big design"; and to honor design projects and works that have made great contributions to the country's social progress, cultural development, industrial promotion, people's livelihood improvement, and urban and rural construction, emphasizing its innovation, influence and Chinese wisdom.
