Beijing Ranks First Globally with Over 2,000 Bus Lines

Recently, Beijing Municipal Commission of Transportation and Beijing Public Transport Cooperation announced that, over the past 75 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, Beijing's public transport lines have surged from 1 to more than 2,200, ranking first in the world.

The number of Beijing's bus fleet has grown from 164 vehicles to more than 23,000 vehicles, increasing by more than 100 times. At present, Beijing's public transport system operates 2,257 lines. On weekdays, there are 20,000 buses in operation daily, running for 147,000 times, with an average daily passenger volume of more than 6.6 million.

In recent years, Beijing is among the first to adopt purely electric and hybrid buses in large scale in China. The proportion of clean energy and new energy buses is nearly 94.7 percent, making it the largest "clean bus convoy" in the world.
