With the arrival of December, the countdown begins for the launch of new subway lines in 2024. Beijing Subway's Line 3 (running from Dongsi Shitiao Station to Dongbabei Station) and Line 12 (running from Sijiqingqiao Station to Dongbabei Station) are set to open soon.
Line 3, running from Dongsi Shitiao Station to Dongbabei Station, traverses Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts, stretching approximately 15.7 kilometers, with ten stations along the way. This line connects major sports venues, comprehensive transport hubs, and key functional areas, which is expected to effectively enhance rail transit services in the northeast part of the central urban area. Line 12, running from Sijiqingqiao Station to Dongbabei Station, travels through Haidian, Xicheng, Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts, spanning about 28.9 kilometers and featuring 20 stations. This line connects key functional areas like Zhongguancun, Wangjing, and Dongba, and will serve as a major route linking the eastern and western parts of the city.
The two lines cover a total of 18 transfer stations, enabling seamless connectivity with various north-south rail transit lines. Additionally, both lines are designed for unmanned operation, with their operational efficiency significantly enhanced through an advanced train control system. They also feature a "4 + 4" flexible marshaling system, allowing adaptable switchovers during peak and off-peak periods based on the passenger flow, thereby reducing operational costs.
