On February 4, the Central Axis-themed train of Beijing Subway Line 8 was officially launched. The train's exterior design and interior displays, and the decorations on the platform screen doors all incorporate the elements of the Central Axis, creating a mobile cultural and artistic exhibition. Passengers can experience the cultural charm and historical significance of the Central Axis during their brief subway journey.
Subway Line 8 is a north-south artery of the capital's underground transportation, with its core section going through stations of Yongdingmenwai, Qianmen, Wangfujing, Shichahai, Nanluoguxiang, and Gulou Dajie, echoing the Central Axis on the ground and thereby earning the name of the "Underground Central Axis".
The Central Axis-themed train is scheduled to run until August 4, 2024. Integrating the 15 characteristic architectural elements of Beijing's Central Axis, the themed train also offers a digital experience. Passengers can scan the QR code of the mini program "Central Axis on the Cloud" (云上中轴) inside the carriage to appreciate the cultural heritage sites along Beijing's Central Axis.
