An applicant who has been holding the post of professor or associate professor or enjoying an equal treatment in a key institute of higher education in Beijing for at least four consecutive years upon application and prior to the date of application, with his/her cumulative period of residence in China no less than three cumulative years in four years and with a good tax-paying record, may apply for permanent residency.

1. Two 2-inch front-facing, bareheaded, color photos taken against a white background, along with a digital copy of the photo (submitted in disk)

2. Photocopies of the applicant's valid foreign passport and work-type residence permit obtained in Beijing for four consecutive years prior to the date of application

3. Statement(s) on no criminal record in foreign country(-ies)

4. A photocopy of the physical examination certificate issued by either a health and quarantine department designated by the Chinese government, or by a foreign medical institution notarized by the Chinese embassy in the country (The designated exit-entry health and quarantine department in Beijing is the Beijing International Travel Health Care Center, and the certificate shall be issued within six months prior to the date of the acceptance of the application.)

5. An employment certificate (This refers to a certificate proving that the applicant has been holding the post of deputy general manager or above, having the title of associate professor, associate researcher or above, or enjoying an equal treatment for at least four years. The certificate shall be issued by the employer.)

6. The applicant's tax payment certificates issued by tax authority(-ies) (The tax payment period shall be four consecutive years prior to the date of application.)

7. A photocopy of the "Legal Person Certificate for Public Institutions" of the employer

8. If the institution of higher education the applicant works for is a member of the Project 211 or is included in the first batch of institutions for admission and enrollment of undergraduate students in Beijing, a photocopy of such approval document shall be provided.

9. Photocopy(-ies) of the applicant's "Foreigner's Work Permit" (The valid period should be four consecutive years prior to the date of application. Information about the applicant's employer, position and personal details should be consistent with that in the certificate of employment and other relevant certificates.)

10. If the applicant had Chinese nationality before, he/she shall provide the photocopies of the residence permit, the naturalization paper or the household certificate transcript, and the Chinese passport used for naturalization.

11. Personal resume of the applicant (which shall include the details from 18 years old to present, with no missing gaps between years or months)

1. The applicant must sign the application form.

2. If the applicant's name has changed, the proof of name change must be provided.

3. The certificates issued by the relevant foreign institutions must be authenticated by apostilles or authenticated by the Chinese embassy(-ies) or consulate(s) in the country(-ies) concerned.

4. A Chinese translation with the official stamp by the translation company is required for any material in a foreign language.

5. All the original copies shall be reviewed before the submission of photocopies. Photocopies shall be in the A4 format.

6. If the applicant needs to print his/her Chinese name on his/her Foreigner Permanent Resident ID Card, he/she should clearly indicate whether to print his/her Chinese name in the "Other Matters to be Explained" column on the application form.

7. If the applicant hasn't canceled his/her Chinese household registration or Chinese resident ID card, he/she needs to cancel first.
