The 34th International Day of Persons with Disabilities was commemorated on December 3. On the same day, Beijing launched "Zhi Ling Chu Xing" (智龄出行), the city's first mini-program offering wheelchair-accessible ride services. The wheelchair-accessible vehicles allow wheelchair users to board and alight directly, offering enhanced stability and safety. The mini-program supports booking and hailing services for such vehicles, enabling "wheelchair-friendly ride hailing" which greatly facilitates travel for people with disabilities and elderly individuals with limited mobility.
Currently, the mini-program is in its trial phase. Rides must be booked at least four hours in advance. The mini-program will later support "on-demand hailing" with the increasing service capacity. At present, the mini-program is also offering users a 66-yuan public welfare travel subsidy coupon with no minimum spending requirement. With the subsidy applied, a 5-kilometer short-distance trip costs only 24 yuan, significantly reducing travel expenses for users with disabilities and limited mobility.
