To ensure comfortable travel for passengers during high-temperature days, Beijing Subway is making every effort to ensure the provision of related services.
The subway operators are implementing a dynamic management approach based on the specific passenger flow on each line and the passenger density inside each carriage, to ensure that the temperature in each passenger carriage remains within the specified range. Subway lines have introduced the dual-temperature carriage mode, guiding passengers to choose their boarding areas according to individual needs.
In response to the relatively high temperatures in the platform waiting areas and transfer passages of the above-ground stations, additional electric fans have been installed, which will be activated accordingly based on the on-site temperatures. Maintenance efforts of the evaporative cooling systems (including water replenishment and cleaning) have been continuously enhanced at key stations such as Sunhe and China Int'l Exhibition Center stations on Line 15, Qinghe and Huilong Guan stations on Line 13, and Xi'erqi and Shahe stations on Changping Line. Air conditioners and electric fans have been installed in the platform waiting areas and transfer passages of 16 stations, including Qinghe Zhan (Qinghe Railway Station), Communication Univ. of China and Beiyuanlu Bei (N) stations.
To protect passengers from heat stroke and high temperatures, the subway stations have been equipped with first aid kits for heat stroke, including cooling balm, cooling patches, candies and other items, allowing passengers to use the supplies at any time. Stations with high passenger volumes have opened priority lanes for those with accessibility needs to enter the stations swiftly and thereby reduce their waiting time outside.
