A foreigner who has been working in Beijing for at least four consecutive years and residing in China for at least six months each year, whose annual salary income has been no less than six times the average wage of urban employees in the region in the previous years for four consecutive years, and has paid no less than 20 percent of the annual salary income as individual income tax each year, may apply for permanent residency upon the recommendation of his/her current employer.
