On September 14, 2023, the Evening Gala of the 2023 Beijing Culture Forum was held at Shougang Park.
The dance and music performance "Flying Apsaras of Dunhuang" showcased a stunning moment where drones soared in the sky, projections on Big Air Shougang depicted the Apsaras of Dunhuang murals, and actors on stage danced together in the air.
The overall design of the gala adhered to the permanent theme ("Inheritance, Creativity, Mutual Learning") of the Beijing Culture Forum. It focused on the annual theme of "Inherit Cultural Legacies, Promote Exchanges and Cooperation". Through innovative expression in forms of music, poetry, painting, and dance, it showcased the harmonious resonance of human civilization. The performance incorporated the themes of global civilization exchanges and mutual learning, as well as the openness and inclusiveness of the Chinese nation.
Musicians from China, Greece, Egypt, Iraq, and India jointly played the piece "Lofty Mountains and Flowing Water".
The encounter between Zhang Qian (a Chinese explorer from the Western Han Dynasty) and Chang Shuhong (a modern Chinese artist) across the long course of history sparked a dialogue about safeguarding civilizations.
The lyrics of the song "Most Beautiful Chinese Style" blend famous verses from the Book of Songs, Chu Ci, Tang poetry, Ci (lyric poetry) of the Song Dynasty, Yuanqu (a popular form of poetry of the Yuan Dynasty), and other well-known poetic works.
"Seeking the Way" portrays the encounter between Confucius and Socrates as they answer questions about wisdom, virtue, and happiness, conveying the shared values inherent in different civilizations.
Wei Wei, Xu Haifeng, Dawa Yangzong, Malanhua Children's Choir, and the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games volunteers performed together to sing and dance in the piece "Hand in Hand Towards the Future".
