The 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games will be held in Beijing in August this year.

Humanoid robotics is a priority track for cultivating new quality productive forces. Beijing is home to the largest number of whole-robot manufacturers in China, accounting for nearly one-quarter of the national total. The city focuses on building core capabilities in key segments of the robotics industry chain and prioritizes application as the foremost driver of industrial development, striving to become a global benchmark city for robot applications.

The 2nd World Humanoid Robot Games will feature two major categories: competitive events and scenario-based events. A total of 32 events will be featured, including track and field, soccer, and street dance in the competitive category, along with housekeeping, firefighting, and retail assistance in the scenario-based category.

A major highlight is that the 100-meter race has been upgraded to a competition for fully autonomous robots only. The rules of the scenario-based events also encourage participating teams to rely on fully autonomous approaches for positioning, recognition, and operation. In the design of the events, many new tasks have been added to test the precise operations of the robots, such as folding clothes in home-related scenarios, firefighting in emergency rescue scenarios, and preparing cooked food in retail scenarios.

Even more exciting, this year's scenario-based competitions will no longer be held at the test arenas built for the competitions. Instead, robots will perform in real-world environments such as factories, hotels, and model homes, where they must autonomously complete complex, long-duration tasks. This change aims to transform humanoid robots from mere demonstration tools into effective, real-world helpers with tangible outputs.
