On the afternoon of May 29, the first edition of the "Nicaragua Designs" Expo in China 2026, hosted by the Embassy of Nicaragua in China, opened at the China-Latin America Cultural Exchange Center in Beijing.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Nicaragua to China, Chinese guests, as well as representatives from the creative industries of both countries. During the forum session, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including the development of creative industries, innovation, fashion education, entrepreneurship and investment opportunities between the two countries. They agreed that the two sides share broad potential for cooperation in areas such as traditional craftsmanship and cultural industries.

Ramio José Cruz Flores, Ambassador of Nicaragua to China, remarked that Nicaragua and China both possess rich cultural traditions. "We are extremely proud to hold the 'Nicaragua Designs' Expo in China," he said. "Through this event, we can see the integration of tradition and modernity, as well as the artistic dialogue between Nicaragua and China."

Following the forum, guests visited the exhibition area of creative products, which featured a rich collection of traditional handicrafts and contemporary designs from Nicaragua, including textiles, jewelry, and other categories. Nicaraguan and Chinese designers also presented their respective fashion collections on site.

Isabella Alemán, a Nicaraguan designer, said she met a Chinese designer skilled in Shu embroidery during the event and was deeply fascinated by its patterns. She added that she hopes to connect with more Chinese designers in the future and gain a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese costume culture.
It is learned that the China-Latin America Cultural Exchange Center has signed a cooperation agreement with Nicaragua's National Commission of Creative and Orange Economy (Secretaria de Economía Creativa Y Naranja). The two sides will jointly launch activities in culture, trade, tourism, creative education and international promotion. The partnership is expected to further promote China-Latin America cultural exchanges through project cooperation, talent exchanges, and institutional cooperation, strengthening both cultural ties and creative industrial development.
