The 14th Beijing International Kite Festival and the 5th China Kite Championship will kick off at the Beijing Garden Expo Park from April 11 to 12.
During the event, a total of 22 domestic and international kite teams will compete in eight major categories and two international performance contests (soft kites and sports kites), showcasing their skills on a 40,000-square-meter professional competition venue. Besides professional competitions, interactive programs such as the kite-making program, the kite-flying program, and the family kite-flying program, will all be available on-site. Participants of all ages can handcraft their own kites and enjoy the fun of flying them.
The event also features diverse shopping and cultural experiences. A festival-exclusive market will open concurrently with numerous stalls, such as those selling kites, handicrafts, local snacks, and sports-themed merchandise, offering an immersive spring shopping experience. The Wind Chaser Market (追风市集), giant kites photo ops, kite-making workshops and many other experiences will deeply integrate the kite culture with commercial consumption, allowing locals to embrace the beauty of spring without going afar.
