Beijing Strives to Grow AI Industry Scale to over 550 Billion Yuan This Year

In 2025, Beijing achieved a series of milestones in digital infrastructure development, digital industry growth, industrial digital transformation, and international openness and cooperation in the digital economy. During the year, the city built 5,122 new 5G-Advanced base stations, bringing the total to 18,000. It also added 38,000 petaflops of intelligent computing power, increasing the total computing capacity to 60,000 petaflops, effectively supporting the development and application of large AI models in the city. The value-added output of electronic information manufacturing enterprises above the designated size rose by 20.2 percent, exceeding the national average by 9.6 percentage points. Meanwhile, the software and information technology services sector grew by 11 percent. A total of 32 platform companies from Beijing were listed among China's Top 100 Internet Enterprises in Comprehensive Capabilities, ranking first nationwide in terms of quantity.

By 2025, Beijing had cumulatively established five lighthouse factories, seven national-level intelligent manufacturing benchmark enterprises, and 19 excellence-level smart factories, providing leading examples for the digital transformation of the manufacturing sector across China. A total of 119 internet hospitals had been built in the city, with 2.616 million online medical consultations recorded in 2025, representing a 56.4 percent year-on-year increase, and further improving the level of digital healthcare services.

This year, Beijing will further expand the empowerment and application of artificial intelligence in fields such as scientific research, manufacturing, healthcare, education, finance, trade, and culture and tourism. The city will establish a national pilot base for AI application and testing, strive to grow the AI industry scale to over 550 billion yuan, and foster two to three leading AI enterprises with strong ecosystem influence, along with a group of specialized, high-end and innovation-driven SMEs.
