Recently, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines announced new measures to protect passengers' rights, introducing full refund policies when ticket prices drop after purchases.
Air China
After purchasing a ticket, you can log into the app (中国国航) or WeChat mini-program (中国国际航空) of Air China to check the itinerary, fare, and tax amount of the ticket after real-name registration. If any discrepancy is found, report this to the customer service hotline at +86-95583. Once verified, Air China will refund the price difference to the affected passenger and take serious disciplinary action against the responsible sales agent in accordance with the airline's sales agency agreements.
If you have purchased a one-way domestic non-stop flight ticket through the airline's app or WeChat mini-program, in the case where you later buy a ticket with a lower fare for the same passenger and itinerary through any sales channel in China, you can get a full refund for the old ticket within the specified period.
It should be noted that, if you buy tickets via Air China's app or WeChat mini-program, you are entitled to the following benefits annually:
- Two domestic no-questions-asked refund vouchers;
- Two international and regional no-questions-asked refund vouchers;
- Full or partial refunds within two hours of purchases.
China Eastern Airlines
After purchasing a ticket, you can access the app (东方航空) or the WeChat mini-program (中国东方航空) of China Eastern Airlines. Then, enter the "Service Hall" (服务大厅), tap "Ticket Verification" (客票验证), enter the relevant information, and check the ticket authenticity as well as the fare and taxes. If any discrepancy is found, go back to "Service Hall" (服务大厅) and tap "Feedback" (意见反馈) or call the customer service hotline (+86-95530) to provide feedback. Once verified, China Eastern Airlines will refund the differential amount to you and hold the responsible agent accountable.
If the fare drops for the ticket for the same sales channel after purchase, after buying a new ticket for the same itinerary through the same sales channel within 24 hours of the original purchase, you may apply for a full refund for the original ticket. Certain conditions may apply in this case.
The "Two-Hour Full Refund" (2小时全额退) policy is also available on the airline's official website and app, which requires you to apply within two hours of purchase and at least 12 hours before the flight's departure, provided that your tickets meet certain conditions. Two full refunds are available within 180 days.
China Southern Airlines
After purchasing a ticket, you can access the app (南方航空) or WeChat mini-program (中国南方航空) of China Southern Airlines. Then, tap "Itinerary" (行程) at the bottom of the page, enter the relevant information, and check the itinerary and fare.
When checking, if you discover issues such as:
- Inconsistency between the ticket price and that shown on the itinerary receipt
- Excessive fees for refund or change
- Additional charges for services that are meant to be free
You can provide feedback through the app, WeChat mini-program or the airline, or by calling +86-95539. Once verified, China Southern Airlines will compensate you for the differential amount.
After purchasing a domestic flight ticket through any of the airline's official channels, if you discover a price drop, you may submit an application within 24 hours of ticket issuance. After purchasing a new lower-priced ticket, the original ticket can be refunded fully.
