The Spring Festival is just around the corner, and many fun events are awaiting you in Chaoyang! Looking for temple fairs with novel goods, amusing family-friendly events, or an adrenaline rush in the freezing outside? Three categories of themed travel experience will ensure something to expect!
Temple Fairs and Good Fortune Tours
During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, Chaoyang will host temple fairs under the theme of "Trendy Chaoyang, Trendy Temple Fair", in collaboration with the Chaowai UIC area, Dongyue Temple, and Ritan Park. At Dongyue Temple, you will find themed lantern installations, watch pop-up shows, and marvel at interactive parades by performers in amazing costumes, experiencing a vibrant fusion of traditional blessing rituals and contemporary trends.
From February 10 to March 8, offerings themed on four famous giant pandas, including Beijing Zoo's superstar Meng Lan, will be featured at Chaoyangmen Outer Street, where traditional Chinese lanterns and tech-powered parades promise a distinct Spring Festival experience.
Meanwhile, Beiding Niangniang Temple will host live-stream interactions together with other temples, a check-in campaign (in collaboration with another temple) with blessing giveaways, as well as traditional intangible cultural heritage performances such as Yingge dances and lion dances, inviting you to savor the rich festive atmosphere.
Trips for Leisure and Family Fun
Celebrating the Spring Festival with kids in Chaoyang means discovering something new every day! POP LAND (a themed park) will present "Intangible Cultural Heritage Meets Trendy Toys in the Year of the Horse" (万马非遗·潮玩新春), creatively blending traditional handicrafts with trendy toys. The Beijing Theater will offer a special Spring Festival concert for children, while the Olympic Forest Park will stage the acrobatic production "Han Style" (汉风). At Beijing Happy Valley, don't forget to visit the snow playground themed on "Eggy Party" (a game), which spans over 10,000 square meters, complete with festive games. At the Musicfans Arts Space (Sanlitun), kids can enjoy concerts of classical masterpieces. INDIGO will launch an immersive event themed on "Toy Story". Meet You Museum presents "Meet the Cretaceous: Dinosaur Fossils Exhibition" (“遇见白垩纪”恐龙化石特展), taking young visitors on an engaging adventure of science education.
Ice and Snow Adventure Tours
Winter sports venues across Chaoyang are now fully open, catering to both winter sports enthusiasts and those simply seeking seasonal fun. The Bird's Nest Ice and Snow Season spans over 40,000 square meters, featuring snow drifting and family sledding activities. At the Workers' Stadium, the Jingcai - Ice and Snow Carnival of Exciting Winter (京彩·燃冬冰雪嘉年华) features a 70,000-square-meter winter-themed town with immersive fun. The Wenyu River Ice and Snow Festival has an 80,000-square-meter ice rink alongside a 20,000-square-meter snow park. The Taiyanggong Ice and Snow Carnival offers an all-inclusive ticket covering 13 snow activities. In addition, the ice rinks at the Olympic Forest Park, Chaoyang Park, the National Speed Skating Oval, the National Aquatics Center, and multiple shopping malls across the district are all open for those enjoying skating.
