On January 17, the Summer Palace's Kunming Lake Ice Rink, the largest outdoor natural ice rink in Beijing, officially opened to the public.

The ice rink covers approximately 160,000 square meters this year. There are four entrances: Yulantang Dock, Bronze Ox Dock, Paiyun Hall Dock, and West Dyke Dock. Visitors can choose from three kinds of traditional ice equipment: single sleds, double sleds, and bicycles.

This year, to make it even more convenient for visitors to enter the park and rent equipment, the Summer Palace has installed screens for digital ticket purchases at the four dock entrances. By scanning the QR code on these screens with their mobile phones, visitors can swiftly purchase tickets for skating equipment and enter the rink by verifying their electronic tickets. Additionally, a dedicated WeChat mini-program for the ice rink has been launched, providing real-time updates on the rink's opening status, queue conditions at each entrance, as well as features like an AI customer service and online electronic invoice issuance.

Special Reminder:

The operation of the ice rink is highly weather-dependent, and arrangements are subject to change. Please stay updated by checking the park's announcements. On weekends, visitor traffic at the ice rink tends to be more concentrated. Consider entering through the Paiyun Hall Dock or West Dyke Dock, where crowds are relatively lighter. During your visit, please adhere to the ice rink's management regulations and avoid entering unopened areas. As temperatures on the ice can be quite low, we recommend dressing warmly and keeping a close eye on accompanying elderly individuals and children.

Opening Hours:

8:30 ‒ 17:00 daily from January 17 to February 4, 2026 (last entrance at 16:30)
Venue clearance begins at 17:00 (subject to weather conditions).
