The 2026 New Year's Day holiday is approaching — have you planned your celebrations?

According to the notice from the General Office of the State Council on the holiday arrangements in 2026, the New Year's Day holiday will start from January 1 (Thursday) to January 3 (Saturday), a total of three days off. January 4 (Sunday) has been designated as a working day.

Also, here's a reminder for those driving on expressways during the New Year's Day holiday!

According to the Implementation Plan for Toll Exemptions for Small Passenger Vehicles on Major Holidays (重大节假日免收小型客车通行费实施方案), small passenger vehicles (with 7 seats or fewer) will enjoy free expressway access during the four statutory holidays: Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, and National Day. This means that expressways will not be toll-free during the upcoming New Year's Day holiday.

Following the New Year's Day holiday, the next long break is the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, which will run from February 15 to 23 for a total of 9 days, with February 14 and 28 designated as working days. Please get ready to plan your trips in advance!
