If you're looking for a way to explore the world without leaving Beijing this weekend, then the 2025 Beijing International Week of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) has you covered!
Taking place from October 17 to 21 in the Beijing Municipal Administrative Center (Tongzhou District), this year's event brings together intangible cultural heritage treasures from 61 countries and regions across five continents. Visitors can enjoy an exciting array of exhibitions, cultural exchanges, and hands-on experiences — a journey into global tradition and creativity, all within the city!
The International Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition opened on October 17 at the Grand Canal Museum of Beijing.

In the International Handicraft Exhibition Area, visitors are greeted by the haunting sounds of traditional Irish music, the vividly colored and dramatically shaped Busó masks from Hungary, and Russia's cobalt underglaze sculptures and cobalt-glazed tea sets, which blend practicality with beauty. There are also Vietnamese delicacies such as durian cakes, enticing visitors to sample new flavors.
The exhibition showcases the finest intangible cultural heritage from around the world, dazzling visitors with its vibrant artistry and cultural diversity.

The ICH Boutique Exhibition Area gathers the finest ICH items from Beijing, Hong Kong SAR, and Macao SAR, featuring treasures such as cloisonné enamelware and Jingxiu (Beijing-style embroidery), both renowned among the "Eight Imperial Handicrafts of Beijing", as well as traditional Chinese arts such as the guqin (seven-stringed zither) and the tea ceremony. Local specialties like Macao's signature souvenirs also make an appearance, vividly reflecting the unique cultural charm of each region.

Cloth shoes from Neiliansheng, colorful clay figurines from Jitufang, and the rich aroma of tea from Wuyutai… At the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Market - Sharing Life" held in the Central Green Forest Park, visitors can not only enjoy static displays of heritage crafts but also watch live demonstrations by master artisans. With interactive experiences bringing traditions to life, the event offers a one-stop journey to explore and celebrate intangible cultural heritage from around the world.
