Opened in 1994, Shuang'an Department Store, an iconic shopping center on the northwestern Third Ring Road in Beijing, has now completed its largest upgrade and renovation project.

The renovated department store features a façade combining glass and ceramic panels, with the upgraded area exceeding 15,000 square meters and accounting for 70 percent of its total operational space. The redesigned panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows in the dining area on the fifth floor will allow customers to enjoy an unobstructed view of the urban landscape around the northwestern Third Ring Road while dining.

At night, the floodlighting system beneath the department store's canopy is switched on automatically, with its soft glow filtering through customized glass display windows and casting a warm and stylish ambiance over the entrances.

During this upgrade and renovation process, the store has revamped its 159 new brands, with the newly-introduced brands (including those opening their first stores here) making up nearly 30 percent of the total brands at the store.

The "Huanshi Kongjian" (缓释空间, which literally means "sustained-release space") on the fifth floor integrates multiple distinctive business formats, offering unique merchandise such as handicrafts by designers, fossil-inspired merchandise, and specimens of plants and animals. Customers can also have fun drawing there.

The newly constructed "Stargazing Garden" (仰望花园) atop the building stands as one of the centerpieces of this renovation. Sprawling about 1,600 square meters, this green space above ground will regularly launch highly interactive cultural activities.

As its anniversary celebration (which will fall on August 31, 2025) approaches, Shuang'an Department Store is preparing for further upgrades. These include an upcoming renovation of its parking areas, addressing issues such as narrow ramps and insufficient turning radii for platforms, to enhance convenience for customers driving to the department store.
