A former Olympic venue is now brimming with novelty! The 2025 Beijing International Ocean Beach Carnival is in its full swing at the Apailang Creativity Planet in Chaoyang Park. With a platinum beach, global vibes, AI-powered recreational offers, and a feast of summer flavors, the carnival promises a summer full of joy for everyone!
The carnival will run until August 31. During the event, Apailang Creativity Planet will collaborate with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and South African Tourism to host two themed monthly sub-events.
The Thai-themed month from June 28 to July 31 features a celebration inspired by Songkran (water-splashing festival), Muay Thai performances, ethnic dances, and pool electronic music parties. From July 1 to August 31, the South African-themed month will present African drum performances, Zulu warrior dances, tribal body painting, and gold panning adventures, among others.
An international gourmet market will also be available, run by chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants. A diverse array of global dishes will be offered, such as Tom Yum Goong seafood soup, Phat Kaphrao (stir-fried holy basil with rice), South African potjiekos and Zulu tea, allowing visitors to embark on an exotic culinary tour in one stop.
The most anticipated highlight of the event is the advanced utilization of AI technologies! Everyone can begin an interstellar citizen adventure by wearing an intelligent wristband, completing interactive challenges across 10 themed zones, collecting achievement badges, and receiving a personalized AI-generated artwork as their souvenir.
Multi-modal recognition and AIGC (artificial intelligence-generated content) technologies will deliver highly personalized experiences. The three-story-tall mechanical beaver installation, for example, presents elements of philosophical contemplation during the day and transforms into a light spectacle at night.
For family visitors, the park offers dedicated attractions such as a family night market, a dinosaur-themed sandpit archaeology zone, and a playground for kids to jump on a "cloud", complemented by enchanting starlit storytelling sessions at night. The park's Sandbar Theater (沙洲剧场) will host spectacular science demonstrations at scheduled slots. Additionally, the Treasure Blue Bay (宝藏蓝湾) will energize crowds with its "Butterfly Wing Rhapsody" (蝶翼狂想) electronic music stage to create a high-summer revelry.
The 27,000-square-meter Apailang Creativity Planet features a 20,000-square-meter platinum beach, which served as the venue for the beach volleyball events during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Following the conclusion of the games, it was transformed into a beach-themed amusement park and has since hosted the Beijing International Ocean Beach Carnival for several consecutive years.
