The new regulations issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China prohibited passengers from carrying certain power banks on domestic flights. The power banks concerned are those without a valid 3C certification label, those with unclear 3C labels, and those subject to product recalls. The regulations came into effect on June 28, 2025. Passengers who carry power banks that fail to comply with the new regulations upon arriving at airports may opt to voluntarily discard them at airports or use airports' express delivery services to send them to their homes or other destinations. Additionally, passengers departing from either of Beijing's two airports can have their power banks stored for free and retrieve them at the corresponding airports upon returning to Beijing.
The new regulations specify that airlines and airports should reasonably establish areas for passengers to discard or temporarily store power banks, and outline the storage procedures and processes clearly to facilitate these actions taken by passengers and enhance their understanding and willingness to cooperate with the regulations.
Currently, Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport provide free temporary storage services for power banks.
To be specific, the temporary storage duration for a power bank at Beijing Capital International Airport is up to seven days. Failure to retrieve the power bank beyond the deadline will be deemed as discarding and the airport will no longer store it. The temporary storage area of Terminal 3 is located at the Passenger Service Center on the first floor of the parking building, while that of Terminal 2 is set at the Passenger Service Center on the B1 floor.
Passengers at Beijing Daxing International Airport can go to the JD Express outlet located outside the domestic departures security checkpoint to post their packages. The outlet also provides temporary storage services, allowing passengers to store power banks for up to seven days. Passengers can call the Lost and Found Hotline of Beijing Daxing International Airport to schedule their collection times in advance.
