Beijing's new round of traffic restrictions based on the last digits of license plate numbers came into effect on June 30. Specifically, cars with license plate numbers ending with 5 and 0, 1 and 6, 2 and 7, 3 and 8, and 4 and 9 are prohibited from running in certain areas from Monday to Friday respectively.
In early July, primary and secondary schools will commence their summer vacations successively, which will lead to some typical traffic patterns. Specifically, the commuting pressure during morning peak hours on working days will be gradually eased, while trips to certain landmark attractions, waterfront scenic areas and commercial districts will increase, leading to surges of tourist flows and vehicle volumes on the surrounding roads.
Weather trends in Beijing
Flood season has come with rainfall expected on multiple days this week. Thundershowers will move in from tonight through to tomorrow's daytime, with persistent rainfall likely to continue strongly in the coming days. Please remember to carry rain gear when going out. As roads become slippery on rainy days, drivers should maintain distance, reduce speed, steer gently, and apply brakes gradually to ensure travel safety. Additionally, with persistent muggy weather, it is advised to take precautions against heat exhaustion and stay cool.
