The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) recently announced the winners of the IFLA PressReader International Marketing Award. The Capital Library of China won second place for its "Reading Garden" project at the Beijing Library.

The "Reading Garden" is an interactive exhibition project launched by the Capital Library of China at the Children's Library of Beijing Library. It visualizes children's reading progress through a digitalized garden, where each reader can cultivate their own plots. A flower will bloom after a reader finishes reading a book, with flower colors reflecting different genres. As the first of its kind to adopt the elements inspired by plant growth, it combines art and interaction to showcase reading milestones. Children can view their gardens online and share them with family and friends, encouraging others to join. Since its launch in January 2024, the project has attracted over 1.5 million attendances, accounting for 41.7 percent of all footfalls.

The IFLA PressReader International Marketing Award, established in 2002 by IFLA, is one of the most prestigious honors in the global library sector. It recognizes creative, result-oriented marketing projects, outstanding practices, and initiatives worldwide.
