On May 28, the 17th China International Youth Arts Festival kicked off at the Concert Hall of the National Library Art Center. The event will last until June 24 and will bring together more than 10 top art groups, thousands of art workers and enthusiasts in China and other countries and regions to present 20 wonderful shows spanning categories like music, opera, dance dramas, and plays.
The festival has an opening concert and four sections. The opening concert presented the prelude of "Carmen", "The Butterfly Lovers", "The Peony Pavilion" (a production of Kunqu Opera), and "The Jewelry Purse" (a production of Beijing Opera). Other sections will feature outdoor music performances brought by artists from France, Italy, Russia and other countries, including a special performance by the Beryozka State Academic Dance Company from Russia, as well as the musical "The Count of Monte Cristo" and the immersive, interactive mystery drama "Qiexiya".
