As of May 27, 2025, Beijing's exit-entry points have recorded over 8 million cross-border trips, reaching the 8-million threshold 30 days faster than in 2024, with a year-on-year increase of 22.1 percent. Specifically, foreign nationals made nearly 2.3 million entries and exits, marking a 39.3-percent surge compared with the same period in 2024 and representing 28.6 percent of the total cross-border trips.

Since the beginning of this year, the inbound and outbound passenger flows at Beijing have maintained a consistently high growth trend. A series of policies facilitating foreign nationals' entry into China, including those for unilateral visa exemptions, mutual visa exemptions, and visa-free transits, have led to sustained effects. Coupled with the further improved departure tax refund policy, these policies have significantly fueled the enthusiasm of foreign travelers for traveling and shopping in China.
As of now, Beijing's exit-entry points have cumulatively recorded over 1.17 million entries by foreign nationals, marking a 39.3-percent year-on-year increase. It is noteworthy that the number of the entries made under the visa-free policies, including the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, exceeded 600,000, nearly doubling the figure from the same period last year. Foreign visitors for tourism, business, and family visits accounted for 70.9 percent of the total, reflecting a 41.4-percent year-on-year growth. The proportion of foreign nationals among all inbound travelers has shown a consistent monthly rise trend, climbing from 21 percent in January to 36.4 percent in April, indicating a 15.4-percentage-point increase.
On June 1, China will implement a visa exemption policy for five countries including Brazil on a trial basis, and the mutual visa-free agreement with Uzbekistan will take effect, further expanding China's “visa-free circle”. It is expected that the inbound and outbound passenger volumes at Beijing's ports will continue rising due to the increasing frequency of international flights and the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival holiday and summer vacation.
