As the Labor Day holiday approaches, we have some good news for you, including a reduced departure tax refund threshold, continuous good weather in Beijing, and extended subway operating hours!
News
On April 27, the State Taxation Administration of the People's Republic of China revised the Administrative Measures for Departure Tax Refunds for Overseas Tourists, introducing further streamlined procedures for departure tax refunds. Any overseas tourist who has purchased tax-refundable items totaling CNY 200 or more at the same store on the same day and meets all other requirements can now apply for tax refunds. For refund amounts under CNY 20,000, both cash refunds and bank transfers are available. Bank transfer refunds have already been uncapped.
Weather
In the final days of April, Beijing will experience predominantly clear skies, with daytime highs ranging from 27℃ to 32℃, and nighttime lows between 12℃ and 18℃, offering ideal conditions for outdoor excursions and flower touring. However, due to strong ultraviolet radiation, visitors engaging in long-time outdoor activities are advised to prepare for sun protection and maintain adequate hydration.
Travel Tips
During the holiday period, Beijing Subway will extend its nighttime service hours at key stations. For instance, on the evening of May 5, eight lines (Subway Lines 2, 3, 4, 7, 10, 14, 19 and the Daxing Airport Express) will operate under a coordinated "networked" system, with service time extended until 2:00 the following day.
For public transportation, operation management will be enhanced for 103 bus routes serving the seven major railway stations, with increased nighttime service frequencies to meet passengers' needs. Additionally, there will be more dedicated shuttle buses departing from Beijing Chaoyang Railway Station to the subway stations of Lines 6, 10, and 14 to facilitate passenger flow.
The airport bus services will initiate dual-ticket window sales if necessary, increase daytime departures, and deploy more buses for passengers of nighttime flights based on actual situations, with extended operating hours and additional arrival stops. Dedicated buses for extremely high passenger volumes will also be available.
