According to the Beijing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, the number of exits and entries through Beijing's ports of entry exceeded 5 million as of April 6 this year, marking a 23 percent year-on-year increase. This milestone was reached 19 days earlier than in 2024.
Specifically, 1.3 million exits and entries were made by foreign nationals, of which 638,000 were entries, indicating an increase of 44 percent year-on-year. Beijing saw nearly 310,000 visa-free entries by foreigners (including 240-hour transit arrivals), up 120 percent compared with the period before the relevant policies were introduced. Notably, 70 percent of the entries were for traveling, business, or family visits, 1.5 times that of the number recorded during the same period last year.
During the Qingming Festival holiday this year, Beijing logged nearly 170,000 exits and entries, among which 30,000 entries were made by foreign nationals. Arrivals of foreigners reached 10,800 on April 6 alone, setting a new single-day record for international entries at Beijing’s ports of entry this year.
The Beijing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection has implemented a "double-row inspection" mode at Terminal 3 of the Beijing Capital International Airport, and arranged a specific inspection area for the 240-hour visa-free transit, effectively improving the efficiency of exit-entry processes. At the same time, it has worked with the relevant local governmental authorities to provide qualified foreign businesspersons arriving in Beijing with exit-entry facilitation, and has pioneered in China the coordinated implementation of the facilitation measures regarding special visas and exit-entry services. The general station has also joined hands with multiple institutions to release the Service Package for Foreign Experts in International Organizations and Overseas Talented Individuals Based in Beijing, in order to help international organizations prosper in the city.
