The 2025 Beijing rail transit development plan was officially released recently. This year, Beijing has ten urban rail transit lines (sections) under construction with a total length of 177.4 kilometers.

Subway Line 17 (Workers' Stadium – Shilihe) and the southern extension of Subway Line 6 will be ready for initial operation. Subway Line 17 is a high-capacity rail transit line that runs through the city from north to south. The southern and northern sections have already been in operation. The middle section from Shilihe to Workers' Stadium Station is scheduled to have the initial operating conditions within the year. Once fully operational, Subway Line 17 will drive the economic and social development of Future Science City, CBD and the frontal area of Yizhuang Railway Station. The southern extension, part of Beijing’s downtown east-west backbone Subway Line 6, starts from the existing Lucheng Station in the north, and goes east along Yunhe East Street to Dongxiaoying Nan Station. After completion, it will further improve the transportation infrastructure of the Municipal Administrative Center.

These entrances and exits will be ready for use this year:  Dahongmen Station on Subway Line 8, Exit A of Suzhouqiao Station on Subway Line 16, Exit B2 of Futong Station on Subway Line 14, the barrier-free entrance of Jingfengmen Station, Exit A of Dongsi Station on Subway Line 5, and Exit F of Dongsi Station on Subway Line 6. Passengers will be able to transfer between Subway Lines 8 and 10 at Dahongmen Station, further optimizing the rail transit network in the South Central Axis and South City areas.

This year, the construction of two new lines, Phase II of Subway Line 19 (North Extension Line and North Extension Branch Line) and the north section of Phase I, Subway Line R4, has also officially started. After Phase II of Subway Line 19 (North Extension Line and North Extension Branch Line) is completed, it will create a rapid corridor connecting the northwest of the city with the central urban area to promote the development of the northern part of the central urban area and Pingyuan New City. The northern section of Phase I of Subway Line R4 starts from Guanzhuang Road West Exit Station in the south and ends at Yanjing Bridge Station in the north, and its completion will further strengthen the transportation connection between the central urban area and the new city, which is of great significance for promoting the development of an international exchange center, improving the land-side transportation service of the Beijing Capital International Airport, and strengthening the construction of rail express lines.

In addition, Beijing will also advance the construction of Phase I of Subway Line 3 (Dongba Bei(N) – Caogezhuang Bei(N)), Subway Line 12 (Dongba Bei(N) – Dongba North Street), Subway Line 22, Subway Line 28, the northern extension of the Beijing Daxing International Airport Express, Phase I of Subway Line M101, the branch line of Subway Line 1, and the capacity-expansion and upgrading project of Subway Line 13 (Houchangcun – Tiantongyuan Dong (E)). The western extension of the Beijing Sub-Center Railway Line will also start civil construction.
